What is Stress Urinary Incontinence?

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a leakage of urine during moments of physical activity that increases abdominal pressure, such as coughing, sneezing, laughing, or exercise. SUI is the most common type of urinary incontinence in women.

SUI can happen when pelvic tissues and muscles, which support the bladder and urethra, become weak and allow the bladder "neck" (where the bladder and urethra intersect) to descend during bursts of physical activity. This descent can prevent the urethra from working properly to control the flow of urine. SUI can also occur when the sphincter muscle that controls the urethra weakens. The weakened sphincter muscle is not able to stop the flow of urine under normal circumstances and when there is an increase in abdominal pressure.

How does Sabrina work in SUI?

The Sabrina 1470 nm Diode laser used for Stress Urinary Incontinence features a built-in technology that enables controlled and uniform amounts of laser energy distribute to the vaginal tissue, which create microscopic tears, this laser triggers body’s natural regeneration process and prompts the production of collagen, elastin, and vaginal mucosa in the area.

Collagen and elastin are two vital proteins responsible for skin’s elasticity. Vaginal mucosa adds moisture and lubrication to vagina, As collagen production, elastin, and thicker vaginal mucosa increase, vaginal health returns & the end result is, shrinkage and tightening of the tissue in the urethral and anterior bladder wall region and the return of normal continence function.

Unique advantages of Sabrina for your patients:

For the majority of patients, four sessions of Sabrina with a 15-day interval were sufficient to alleviate mild or even moderate stress urinary incontinence. No special pre-op preparations or post-op precautions were necessary. Patients could immediately return to their normal everyday activities. Additional advantages of Sabrina are that the procedure is incisionless and virtually painless, with no ablation, cutting, bleeding, or sutures. Recovery is extremely quick without need for the use of analgesics or antibiotics
